Our Commitment…

The Lancaster City Housing Authority is committed to providing reasonable accommodations to persons with disabilities. Within our developments we have 44 units that are wheelchair accessible, 15 units that are designed for persons with hearing disabilities and 12 units designed for persons with vision disabilities.

Our goal in public housing is more than providing "safe, decent and sanitary" housing. We encourage self-sufficiency, self-improvement and a general feeling of belonging to a community.

LCHA Mission Statement

The mission of the Lancaster City Housing Authority is to improve the quality of life consistent with local, commonwealth and federal statutes by:

bullet

providing decent, safe, and sanitary housing for low and moderate income individuals and families, retired persons and persons with disabilities;

bullet

recognizing the residents as our ultimate customer;

bullet

fostering an increased supply of quality housing affordable to low and moderate income residents throughout Lancaster County;

bullet

fostering development, ownership and successful management of housing;

bullet

taking a comprehensive approach that goes beyond bricks and mortar, to build links to social service and economic development organizations, and to assist neighborhood residents and community organizations in creating successful neighborhoods;

bullet

administering rental assistance and related programs which allow people to afford and access the widest range of housing opportunities

bullet

providing support and referral services which enable families and individuals to comprehensively address their housing and social service needs and to become increasingly self-sufficient.

LCHA Safety Committee

The Safety Committee of the Lancaster City Housing Authority was established in 1994 and plays a significant part in the agency's accident prevention and awareness program.  The committee consists of four employees, two representing management employees and two representing non-management employees in accordance with guidelines provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry.  Its purpose is to provide and maintain a safe environment for all employees, residents, contractors, vendors, and the general public.

LCHA Champagne Club Committee

The Champagne Club was formed in October 1998 and its purpose is to boost employee morale by recognizing the daily efforts and hard work performed by LCHA employees. The LCHA Champagne Club promotes the appreciation of employees within the agency by organizing annual picnics, luncheons, small fundraisers and sending cards and flowers to employees.

LCHA Wellness Committee

The Wellness Committee was formed in 2006 and its purpose is to provide educational programs for LCHA employees in order to promote beneficial health behavior changes.  The LCHA Wellness Committee promotes better health through helping people change their lifestyles in moving toward a state of optimal health.   The Wellness Committee and the Safety Committee co-sponsor the Annual Safety/Wellness Day for employees held each year in June.
