SECTION 8 PROGRAM
The Section 8 Program at the Lancaster City Housing Authority (LCHA) became operational in 1978. Currently, we administer 1,003 Vouchers of which 75 are Project-based units. We also administer 22 units of Shelter Plus Care rental assistance. The Family Self-Sufficiency Program also works with the community and local agencies in providing services.
The LCHA’s Section 8 Voucher Program provides rental assistance to families and individuals with incomes between 30% and 50% of the median income for Lancaster, PA. Income-eligible families may then rent affordable housing on the private market.
For Information on LCHA Section 8 Housing Programs: firstname.lastname@example.org
Clients are permitted to choose where they want to live, as long as the rent has been determined to be reasonable, the unit meets the requirements of the Section 8 Program, and passes current inspection standards, and the client will not be paying more than 40% of their income in rent and utilities.
Section 8 Vouchers are portable anywhere within the United States and its territories, as long as, there is an operating Housing Authority for the area where the client wants to transfer.
